Natural Household Cleaners, The Safest Way to Be Clean!

Using natural household cleaners is more commonplace now than ever. Once reserved only for true environmentalists or tree huggers, mainstream America is becoming more aware than ever about the dangers of common household cleaners.

As parents of a child with asthma, we made the leap to non toxic products long ago and have never looked back. Our home is clean - and so is the air we breathe.

Lots of people are 'brand loyal'. They like to use products that are familiar and that have 'name recognition'. But when it comes to our children's health, we have to be more responsible than that about the choices we make. It's more than picking the products whose manufacturers have spent the most on advertising.

'Green' products have come up in the world. They are not hard to find and work as well or better than their competitors.

Even Hollywood has jumped on the bandwagon. Did you notice that last year's Oscars were 'green'? Gifts to presenters included more than the usual perfume and diamond jewelry - there were also baskets of non toxic, organic household cleaners.

To help you get started in switching your home over to natural household cleaners, here are some of the more dangerous chemical cleaners to watch out for:

  • Carpet cleaners
  • Oven cleaners
  • Toilet bowl cleaners
  • Mold/mildew removers
  • Drain cleaners
  • Glass cleaners
  • Chlorine (a.k.a. bleach - one of the most common causes of household poisonings)
  • Degreasers

How dangerous are the chemicals found in these products? Very.

The problems associated with some of the cleaners listed above include: cancer, liver damage, respiratory distress, eye damage, lung tissue damage, and more. The fact is that the chemicals in question linger in the air long after the actual cleaning is finished.

In my opinion, our son doesn't need anything 'extra' in the air that could trigger breathing problems for him. He already has asthma. So we now use natural household cleaners exclusively.

Want to know what we do? I'm happy to share our routine with you.
